The Instinct Sensor is a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device manufactured by Abbott specifically for integration into Medtronic’s MiniMed ecosystem. Designed as a small, discreet sensor roughly the size of two stacked pennies, it applies to the back of the upper arm via a simple one-handed applicator and requires no overtape or routine fingerstick calibrations. It features a fast 1-hour warm-up time and provides up to 15 days of continuous wear, making it the longest-lasting sensor in the MiniMed lineup. Built to integrate seamlessly with automated insulin delivery (AID) platforms like the MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Flex systems, as well as smart pen setups like MiniMed Go, the Instinct sensor continuously transmits real-time glucose data to help automate insulin adjustments and issue proactive alerts for people managing Type 1 or insulin-requiring Type 2 diabetes.
